Joint Harwich Education Partnership letter regarding the possible reopening of schools in June
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you are already aware there is much going on behind the scenes in primary schools, trying to organise a safe, phased return for specified year groups in June. The local cluster of schools, HEP (Harwich Education Partnership), met on Friday to agree a joint approach.
Firstly, following the advice of Essex Local Authority, we have made the joint decision for all HEP schools to fully close for the half term holiday (25th - 29th May). We will therefore not be providing childcare for any pupils, including those of Key Workers, during this holiday period.
Secondly, all schools will open for the usual key worker children and vulnerable pupils, from 1st June, as we have done for the past eight weeks. However, we will not be opening for Nursery, Reception, Year 1 or Year 6 until 8th June. This will give us the opportunity to fully prepare the school environment to safely receive additional children. Each school will be doing a gradual, phased return and will communicate their own individual plans to you nearer the time. Every school is unique in its layout, physical capacity and availability of staff and therefore all these plans will be dependent on each schools’ own context.
If you have any questions about this, please contact your child’s school for clarification. Kind regards
The Harwich Education Partnership Headteachers
